This is a very desirable position that will require a lot of refferee experience in lower level football games. Think about colleges, top ten ones at that. You cannot just apply to be a NFL ref without having a lot of high exposure experience. Just as it takes a lot to play, you've got to have a lot to ref!

Well, this is a great goal to have and it is also very professional indeed. What you need to do is start getting professional experience as soon as possible. Then you need an agent to support you as a ref in the process. Coach as many teams as possible and get experience.

Start as a high school ref, then NCAA and through to Div 1. Train, do camps, network and hopefully get an opportunity one day to work in the big leagues.

Football referees work their way up the ranks, not unlike players. Referees start at the local or high school level. If they do well, they are hired to do college games. From there, with a good track record, they can move into the NFL.

You will first need to gain experience at the lowest level being little league up to high school referring. You need to be in the best shape possible as you will need to run most of the time. Work your way into college referring and join your state or local referee organization. Then you'll have to apply to the NFL.

Gain accuracy & experience: 1. Start at the "bottom", as a high-school-referee. 2. After (5+)years as high-school-referee, Learn NCAA-rules, & Apply to college-conferences. 3. Learn NFL-rules, & Apply to NFL.

Well to become a referee for the NFL, you need to get certification. Even then, you need a lot of experience to get there.

You start at lower levels, high school, club football for youth, then perhaps college assignments and finally applying to the NFL for a job. They observe you and bring you to a introduction camp then assign you to games if your good enough to meet what they want.
