There are several possible causes. You may have a seed wart, a blister, a pimple, an infection, or you may have a bug bite. If the lump is very large, swollen, or painful, you should see a doctor right away.

It could be arthritis of the fingers. Lumps and bumps frequently occur at the last joint of the finger or thumb due to wear and tear arthritis (osteoarthritis). While the lumps on a finger might be nothing it is best to go get it checked by a doctor for a true diagnosis and correction.

There are a long list of things that could cause a finger lump, so a doctor should be consulted. These include: a callous, a wart, an injury, a cyst, an infection, a nodule from rheumetoid arthritis, a foreign object lodged in the finger, or a wide variety of cancers.

There are many. It could be infection, fracture, carcinoma, scar tissue, ingrown hair, warts, callous, skin cancer, foreign body reaction, etc..
