Question by  Anonymous

What color walls would go well with medium-brown wood trim and a grey carpet?

Painting the trim (baseboard+chair rail molding) is not an option :(

I would try to play up the grey and wood rather than conceal them with a dark, competing paint color. Go with a white or cream and use colorful accents.

A very dark hunter green would go nicely with the trim and carpet it would give the room almost a forest like appeal.

It depends whether you prefer lighter shades or do not mind more color. For an off-white or pastel, try a pink or rosy tone: on the color strips, the dark shade in the same group will be a mahogany color. For more color, try a sage green that picks up the earthiness of the trim and the gray.

Those are both neutral, so any color would be fine. If you don't want to put another neutral tone with the brown and grey, avoid typical wall colors like off-white or mushroom. Choose one color that's bolder than that, and use the same hue for any other decor as well as the walls, eg. mint green or pale canary yellow

A light coffee colour will work well, perhaps with a feature wall in terracotta on one side. If feeling more daring, a deep red, almost maroon, will give a fantastically modern feeling to the room, complimenting both the trim and the carpet. It will also make the room look warmer and more sophisticated.

Give the walls a splash of bright color! There are limitless choices. Something warm and light would be good - such as yellow, peachy rose or a warm sea blue.

I would do a deep set beige on the walls to balance out the colors. They are all in the same general color group. Anything bright would stick out and offset the carpet and wood. After this you could use pictures and furniture to break up the dull colors and bring light into your room.
