What are some good craft ideas for a six year old?

It's for my niece, but it doesn't have to be just for girls.

Try making hand puppets from brown paper sacks and odds and ends you have around your home. All you need is some glue, buttons for eyes and noses, yarn for hair and lips, and some markers. The fun continues after the puppets are finished when you use them to put on puppet shows!

A six year old is usually working on their handwriting and their words, so it is good to incorporate crafts that have words and letters in them. A card or a calender is acceptable as a craft idea. Something bright with many different colors. It's also good to just give them paper, pens and crayons and watch them go.

Six year olds really enjoy activities that involve finger painting, cutting and gluing. You could incorporate nature into your arts as well by going on walks and collecting things.

working with clay ,and then drying and coloring the car, bird or the favorite design in clay is great fun for this age group.Their creativity comes to the fore and a semblance to what is in their minds leads to elated feelings. It also satisfies their need to play with mud, quite instinctive in young minds.
