Risperdal is used to treat mental illness, specifically schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It is not a "cure. " Generally, mental illness is not cured, but rather treated through a comprehensive plan that may involve medication, therapy, nutrition, behavior modification, environmental control, etc.

Risperdal is an antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia and some other disorders. It is used to relieve symptoms but it is not a permanent cure.

Risperdal does not cure mental illness, but it is an effective medication for some of the symptoms of mental illness. It can make a very significant positive impact on the day to day functioning of people with mental illness, especially confused thought processes and problems with mood stability that can accompany several different conditions.

At best, Risperdal may be effective at concealing or curtailing certain behaviors associated with mental illness. An appropriate analogy might be using cold medication to treat the symptoms of a cold, though the underlying illness remains intact. Using Risperdal alone to treat mental illness is an incomplete approach at best.

I don't think it can cure mental illness, but I think it can alleviate some of the symptoms of mental illness, such as psychosis.
